Las Fallas Part Uno.

Arriving in Valencia last Saturday I was immediately launched into one of the most important festivals in Spain, if not the entire world; Las Fallas.

In short, this is a huge festival that takes place in Valencia from 14-19 March (give or take 1 or 2 days either side) that celebrates the unity between the various neighbourhoods in the city through exquisite fireworks displays during day and night, processions by the falleros in the streets with marching bands, the building of the fallas which you will see in a moment (if you have not already) and then the burning of them on the last night which is known as´La Crema.`

There´s a plethora of information on the internet about this festival which will explain what exactly goes on in a more detailed manner. The official Fallas site HERE is a good starting point.

It really is one of the most impressive festivals I have ever seen and I think I will certainly be returning in the years to come.

On with the photos ...
