I've been on that back to school vibe over the past few months, reading as many books as I can cram. People talk about books you need to read before you're 30, I think these titles are a must for anyones list...
You describe reading books as a "back to school vibe". Thus you fail to separate reading books for enjoyment and pleasure from reading books at school to learn or for homework. Therefore you may as well not bother reading these books because you would obviously struggle to read a school book, let alone one full of deep, meaningful plot lines like 1984.
YO OL. if ur on a reading tip but dunnae wna get in 2 a novel try forster's machine stops, or kafka's metamorphisis. epic short stories altho u may hav red them

Kafka's the trial is also worth checking, as is Albert Camus' The Outsider, which is probably my favorite novel.
