  2. I know there's the likes of INDCSN , AllCaps , DTA, etc etc but can they feature everyone though? Who would you like to have seen the spotlight, just a question?

  3. Should be titled 'London's worst brands'

    ReplyDelete
  4. Why so negative lego? What are your honest opinions on our clothing range then?

  5. Silent London....silents a good name for them. Making absolutely zero noise. dont know how they wormed in there?

Props to the rest though, even Benjart. good exposure.

    LOOL, you're a joke

  7. What a massive massive joke!

  8. Why did they get him to write this? He clearly knows nothing about fashion. Anyone who puts their initials in the middle of their name as some sort of alias shouldn't be put in print.

  9. DTA? American brand.....All caps? did'nt know they still made clothes.

    ReplyDelete
  10. why do people keep saying DTA? they are an LA brand!...they just sponsor grime mc's and AINT is no longer.

I think the only London streetwear brands worth mentioning at the moment are Trapstar and second son.
Hopefully 2011 will see some progression with London based brands.

  11. To think that the article is referring to London's dead 'Streetwear' scene shows how off the pace the piece is.

With no disrespect to the brands featured but claiming to be a 'streetwear' brand in 2011 is off key.

    Sportswear? Casualwear? Anything but streetwear.

  12. Ye man. 2011 is all about casual but practical sportswear. Durrrrrr

  14. There is nothing exciting about UK streetwear purely because there is no real background behind any of these brands. What are any of them rooted in? They all claim to be born out of and represent london culture, but what exactly?

New york brands like ALIFE Supreme or Zoo york actually all came out of era's when certain crews of individuals made up of skaters musicians and graffiti writers created brands to represent their movement, which is why they have longevity and is what makes streetwear real and interesting.

No brands in London have that which is why people should cut the whole "rooted in" "born out of" "representing" bullshit and concentrate on making nice clothes.

  15. benjart is the worst brand I have ever come across..

    trapstar do there thing....

    the rest are a joke

the decent brands outthere are INDCSN and TMP for me... but they both need to start producing more....

  16. I forgot to mention PALACE.

  18. Benjart is an alright brand. But I think their logo is shit. It's got better over the years. The guy is proper down to earth and dedicated. Lots of these guys have no dedication thats why the brands dont last!

JP knows nothing about streetwear. He's just a smiley black man who wears what every other black guy wears. He's probably never been to Hideout (but still goes to Bape and buys oll-over print Hoodies) He just receives the odd free streetwear garment.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Palace is a racist brand. Only sell their stuff to white people.
Trapstar are the best. Their like the kanye west of the garmzzz game. Their rockin' in the free world for sure

  20. "Trapstar are the best. Their like the kanye west of the garmzzz game. Their rockin' in the free world for sure"

.....That is exactly how they would like to be viewed. With their hideous little biker jackets. Are you sure your not their PR bitch?

For me A.IN.T were the better version of Trapstar....From the same manor but smoother designs and less cocks wearing it.People who wear Trapstar always seem to be ego trippers who think that by wearing it they are in the elite when really they are blind trend followers, victim to good marketing.

    BRING IT BACK CHARLIE!

  21. TU are pretty clean.

  22. LOL!

Glad you liked the article folks.

Just so you know, a lot of the brands that I wanted featured included some of the names you've listed, Metro told me that they had to cut a lot of them from that particular piece, but say they're going to print it at a later date.

Yes, I write about music, but I interviewed my long-time friend, Csssette Playa and wanted to featur some of the people (brands) that I respect.

But safe, I know a lot of you guys talking the hardest and it's funny.

Big up the people who liked the article anyway.

Read the unedited Cassette Playa interview here:

  23. Can't say Trapstar don't do their thing, most consistent brand for releases in London love them or hate them. Haven't seen/heard much about Second Son recently.. All Caps is on hiatus.. DTA is a US based brand.

Toomuchposse is probably the only other brand that should have been mentioned in this article, just because they are sick.

    ReplyDelete
  24. If AINT was still about then surely it woulda got a mention, but its not so shullup!

props to everyone who got a mention, if you didn't you clearly need to step your game up & make some noise!

From what Ive seen at Reset events etc Trapstar are owning this UK Streetwear shit, they opened a shop ffs!

    Dont be bitter, be better!

  25. Swanzfly should have been mentioned to represent womens street wear

    ReplyDelete
  26. Trapstar are are wet.end of.Their Dream Team Sweats and T's look like something out of High School Musical.Ugly Kids Club should have been featured instead of those clowns.

  27. I'm a celebrity blogger get me out of here. It's a shame that publications, albeit free ones, reduce themselves to scene darlings to write about fashion. Surely they could find an actual hack to do the rounds of London's art and fashion colleges to get a real taste of what the hippest kids on the no.30 bus to Hackney Wick are wearing.

  28. ^^Breath of fresh air! Intelligence!

  29. TooMuchPosse is far from "street" The guy that run's it is from a well to do family with TOOMUCHMoney...
Ex public school boy, I heard he's a prince in Belgium too.

Trapstar is awful, I only ever see black guys wearing it.

Second Son's stuff's nice but yet again, couple of posh guys running it that wouldn't last 5mins pon de road.

    ReplyDelete
  30. JP'S RACIST! EVERYONE KNOWS THAT. MY MATE WHOS ONE OV HIS CLOSE MATES SAID HE LIKE A RACIST STATUS OR TWO ON FACEBOOK.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Too much posse stuffs decent regardless of whether they're from money or not but how can they get a newspaper write up after only doing ONE RUN of tees?

Can you call your self a streetwear label after doing ONE RUN of tees?

You've got to have put in much more work before you get exposure like that.

You cant hate on Trapstar everyone knows they work hard. I think the facts behind this whole debate is that London streetwear is SHIT.
Trapstar should be ONE of the leading streetwear brands amongst other strong contenders but as it goes no one is really touching them and their clothes are ugly.

    Shame that

    ReplyDelete
  32. Toomuchposse have done ONE RUN of tees have they? Admittedly they've focused on t-shirts, but there's clear progression in their following and designs over the 3 runs they've done, and they had a sick/very well attended instore at Wholesome last year.. I think that makes them worthy of at least a mention. As for them being rich kids, that's GAS.

Also, to the next guy sayin trapstar are wet, whatever you think about them you can't fault their success.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Trapstar is hardly streetwear, more pretentious west end club wear now.

I have some trapstar numbers in my collection, couple Ts and a couple shirts, all of these are archive trapstar not new shit trapstar.

What is that new jacket they have released!?looks like jedi meets camdem goth scene.nothing but waste.

  34. TMP DO BAGS AND SHIT FAM. IF THATS NOT WHATS UP I DUNNO WHAT IS.

    ReplyDelete
  35. So much HYPE!!! Fuck street wear brands. Don a horse and rider.. 2 L's up. each and every

    ReplyDelete
  36. "don a horse and rider, two l's up, each and every"

    completely gay

  37. Silent London WAS Goldhawk Road W12. Cannon's from Essex and lives in Bow? Hamid's dad owns a factory in East. He don't design clothes either.

Some offshoot fake journalism. The whole point of 'FREE PRESS' is to tell the truth. JoesphJPPatterson should hang his head in shame. He should have EXPOSED what really went down.

This should have been a double page on TMP. They are the only clothing brand doing it. In fact they are the only actual brand in London full stop.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Someone has got a chip on their shoulder about "posh rich boys".

If the label is consitant and the clothes are fresh then who gives a fuck whether they came from public school or not.
