80 Blocks from Tiffany's

I know im not the only one who wishes they could have rolled with 'The Warriors'. Running through the streets of New York with your gang and be able to do what you like when you like is a serious OG lifestyle.

Well it did happen and not just in a fictional film this stuff is real.

80blocks

'80 Blocks From Tiffany's' is a rare documentary following two gangs from the South Bronx area of New York. The Savage Skulls and Savage Nomads, these gangs were opposing crews who's driving factor was too own the streets. This is 1970 a time when Hip Hop culture was still in its embryo stage, before gaffiti, before break dancing. The kids on the street didnt have anything, the only thing they had were their colours.

This documentary gives you great insight into the daily movements of the two crews. What makes this different from the tons of documentaries about following gangs is how the Filmmaker Gary Weis gets the gang members to speak freely about the activities of the members. No fronting, no forced questions just the raw elements.

Its long but well worth it. Peep the killer outfits.

Big shout to my boy Bob at Platform.

Real as is gets.

Some of the members played up to the camera but on the whole you get it laid out pretty raw.
