Margin 09

Today me and Big Ron were invited down to the Margin Trade Show at the Music Rooms. Margin is Londons only independent trade show that hand picks brands from around the world that they feel will benefit from the exposure of a London trade show.

Retailers, buyers and distributors are all invited down along with the press.

Here are a pick of mine and Ronnies favourite brands...

Vestal featured as an established brand and it was a good chance to check out some of their new colletion...

A brand called Germain Minette had a really interesting background, they were looking to move their brand into the European market after doing really well in Asia as well as having a flagship stored planned for opening in Shanghai.

New label Uneqal Balance were launching their first collection at Margin and with a solid range of prints they also had a couple of cut and sew bits...

Trousers London a brand I was introduced to last year were back and the update from the camp was that the brand is doing very well, stocked in two places in London and still seeing good trade overseas. The quality of the denim was the first thing you noticed and also some of the attention to detail was encouraging...

Another brand I saw last year was Conquer whos designs were concentrated on etchey pencil illustrations. The ladies vest top was said to be one of their best sellers.

Ladies brand Jojo & Mac had a nice, playful collection. Bits included cardigans, pullovers and woolly jumpers...

The brand Arms definetly stole the show for me, their whole line was cut and sew with a very clean and classic feel to the collection. They are based in Dublin and are looking for more stockists nationwide. If this first collection is anything to go by then I expect to be seeing and hearing a lot more from Arms...

On the whole Margin looks like a great success, in this current climate its good to see new brands working hard to make a name for themselves. Not just throwing out prints either, its plain to see a lot of investment, time and design has gone into the majority of brands showcasing.

Shout to Odyseas the man behind Margin...
