OAAWOD: Present

Last week myself and Lego had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with the guys behind the new 'Present' store.

The meeting started out pretty informal but I can speak for both of us when I say we soon felt very nervous. We were in the presence of some of the people who pretty much invented this scene in the UK. I was still learning how to walk when Duffer of St George was born. Since then the knowledge these guys have amassed is unmeasurable.

For me personally the best thing about 'Present' is the staff and people behind it, you know you are buying from people who really know their subject. Its not a hype brand like so many others around today. 'Present' is real, the brands they stock are chosen and put together in a way that makes you feel you are getting an education in things new, old and the yet to be...

The following video is a new concept to BNTL where I'll be hitting the road and visiting new and old shops to find out a bit more about them and their stock...

Out and about with Ollie Danger -Episode one from Trav on Vimeo.

Edited by Trav. Go easy on my presenting skils, plenty more coming soon.

pretty schizophrenic choice of brands no?.. bbc next to haversack analife and trickers... doesnt make much sense.

Anonymous said...

Yea, brand synergy seems pretty haphazard. BBC&Alife next to Haversack&Analife. Not sure how well BBC is going to sell in Shoreditch. Don't think their going to be able to persuade them BBC is the new vintage.

Man your concerns are explained in the video. Eddie wanted a mix of brands, he werent following on from any previous structure. He's selling candles and coffee next to Trickers and Der Sammler....this was all done intentionally.

Anonymous said...

There's no suggestion in either of our comments that it wasn't done intentionally. We were just questioning whether it's the RIGHT decision.
