What We Wore: 1994/1995
Back in the day when I was younger my best friends Dad owned a record shop, we'd reach every day after school to hang out and try to look cool with the older heads. At that age we weren't massively into the music they were listening to but I did love the stories they'd tell us about the all night raves and the girls.
The album covers, flyers and apparel in the shop was what held my attention. They were all so DIY back then, nothing like the albums that was getting sold at the time in the likes of HMV or Virgin.
As I grew older I started getting more into the clothes and the style....a fascination that hasn't left me. I read a really good article from Vice Style about Jungle and it sent me looking for old archive footage.
I vividly remember the World Dance record bags that were sold in the shop and found these clips of the Jungle and D&B rave...
If you're interested in this then I definitely recommend the documentary 'A London Somet'ing Dis'. Part One and part Two. The clothes and styles are killer.
One of the OG's featured in these videos said that 'Jungle brought people together'. He said there were black guys who'd never have spoken to any white person if it weren't for Jungle and vice versa. Surely this was a defining moment in shaping multicultural Britain.

I Saw You Standing
Video maestro's Nina Manandhar and 'Stan Still' have dropped the illest looking street style video for Platform Magazine. They've took it back to real street wear, real steez and real people and they're representing the UK better than anyone else.
I've been waiting for someone to do this and they've killed it. Im sure im not the only one who misses how real early iD and The Face kept it...
Keep an eye on Platform for the series dropping soon.

Mr. Stare Gallery - Valencia
It's rare on BNTL that our content reaches particularly far out of the UK so it's always great when quality content from other countries comes our way.
The item in question is the recently opened Mr. Stare gallery and studio in Valencia that was set up by Gonzalo Pérez and Amanda Gómez who are responsable for the 'A Little Beat' publication along with Ausias Pérez (D.o.c.s.)and the Artvisual group.
The idea of the Mr. Stare gallery came from a common feeling to fight against the short-lived state of urban art, capturing the moment and the preservation of the temporal. (my translation)
As a result a gallery was curated along with a subsequent workshop to help and support not only the local Valencian talent but for all those promising artists all over Spain and over seas as well.
By the looks of things the team involved have put a great deal of hard work into the project and I hope that it reaps the benefits that it deserves.
I'll leave the video to explain the rest.
Really looking forward to coming back to visit next year!

FORMAT - 2nd Birthday
The Manchester heads will be fully aware of the success and reputation that the FORMAT nights have earnt over the last two years.
In just two years they have showcased a huge amount of artists and in some cases been the first people in Manchester to book certain DJs.
So in order to celebrate their 2nd Birthday they have put together yet another brilliant line-up that will certainly cause a road block.
I've heard that Pinch and Distance will be going b2b as a 'Deleted Scenes' set which for those attending is a fairly rare treat.
Check the FACEBOOK LINK for more information.

LCF Ballet Collaboration
Last Friday night I rolled through to the Victoria & Albert Museum museum to check the London College of Fashion's X English National Ballet collaboration. Which was basically a unveiling of the efforts of a 25 student year-long project to celebrate the centenary of the Ballet Russes.
One of those particular students was my home girl Cherrelle. as one of the hand picked students her accessorize were used to clothe some of the performers in the ballet.
Turn out was ridiculous.
Cherrel's work in the picture below.
the young madam herself
It was to packed & hot to legitly take photos of everyone's work but, everything on show from all the students was more than a lot.
Congrats to everyone who took part especially Cherrelle.

The Boiler Room
The Boiler Room has really found it's feet, now 34 shows in last night saw Jamie Woon take to the stage and kill it, (acapella when the turntables cut out) and The Heatwave complete with live MCs get some of the most movement yet from possibly one of the most critical crowed in London.
I have been working with the guys at The Boiler Room on their identity. Here are some recent shots since moving to it's new location. Tune in every week here.

Tokishirazu x Tricker’s
There has been quite a few Tricker's colabo In the past year or so, obviously some better than others. My personal favorite being the Tricker'sXpresent but I think japanese store Tokishirazu did there thing by adding the crepe sole and came out with a pretty decent pair of M563.
Not gonna lie and say you'd catch me in a pair but i can appreciate the idea.
They've also done a black and brown pair as well, personally don't think they work as well as the white though but I ain't gonna knock the hustle.
