Dubplate - Not For Provocation

Last Saturday night saw the sights of yet another superb DMZ with an equally as superb line-up.

Setting the tone and kicking off the evening for the early-bird gang was one of Germany's finest; ORSON. I hadn't really heard much about this guy but he definitely built things up perfectly laying down the firm foundations for what was to come with a selection of some dark minimal dubstep.

Second to the booth were KRYPTIC MINDS and LEON SWITCH who continued on a similar vein as Orson with the minimal dubstep sounds. Despite having some needle problems they still got the crowd just as hyped with one deck. My main highlight which I know was the same for many other attendees was hearing "One of us" and "Six Degrees" on the Mass system. Both tracks are forthcoming on LOEFAH AND BARCLAY JAMES' new label SWAMP'81.

Up next was the man like LD who delivered one of the best dubstep sets i've ever heard in a while. His selection was exceptional, coming with tracks from himself, Joker, Kromestar, Benga, Cluekid and Breakage to name a few. Kromestar - Get Up and Breakage - Together were straight wheel up's and had the crowd getting as rowdy as ever and thus causing the ganja smoke discharge to multiply 10 fold.

LOEFAH and MALA were next in line and did not cease to impress from one tune to another. Tracks like "Just a Beat" by Loefah himself, "Eyez" by Mala "What the Fuck" by Benga and "Diesel" by Kulture are just some that I can remember from the surfeit of dubplates they tore through.

From what I have read and heard PINCH and HIJAK kept the ball rolling for the stamina crew.
