Moods of Mischief

Here we have two albums i've been meaning to post for quite a while but due to unforeseen wireless broadband issues it's been a bit of a hassle. But thanks to my great neighbours who fail to secure their wireless networks it is no longer an issue. :)

First we have a really rare gem from the mighty Souls of Mischief. Their '99 release Focus, being their third album effort was overlooked by many as it was never distributed on a major scale. The only you were able to get hold of the album at the time was through their website on vinyl and CASSETTE format!! A-Plus, Phesto D, Opio and Tajai are a great combination of artists bringing you Hip-Hop in one of it's best forms. Creative, abstract rhymes and flows alongs with some dope beats = Focus

The second part of todays installment is an album I hold quite close to me. Doom. Two MC's, Main Flow & Donte along with producer Jahson are Mood, a legendary underground trio who in '97 helped launch the careers of a young Hi-Tek and Talib Kweli who strongly feature on the album. This is one of those albums that I can listen to non-stop with no skipping, back to back, all day long! Dark, eerie, hard hitting yet calming production coincide with relative lyrics leaving you thinking about the album long after you've listened to it. Quite simply a CLASSIC!

As always... Enjoy...

Good stuff, the Mood album is excellent. But it serious needs a re-rip. @ 128k all the crispness is gone from the high end frequencies. It almost sounds flat.

I guess that's incentive to go out and buy the real thing.
