BBE @ Canvas w/ Mr Thing, DJ Premier & Marly Marl

We'd been planning this one for a couple of months, so the assumption was, everything would run smoothly.. but as is the way with the best laid plans, they did not!

Major delays on the Picadilly line, coupled with the ridiculous rule that Canvas employees aren't able to come to the club on their nights off.. thus ruling the one like Jack out of the evenings proceedings. Pissed, as it was Jack (our man on the inside) who sorted out our free entry, only to find out he couldn't come... instant dampner. Anyway, I arrived at Kings Cross a little after 10:30 with the intention of meeting Shan and heading down to Canvas.. Shan called me soon after saying he was in Hammersmith and the trains were going on long and he would be another 30 minutes.. I have a nack of waiting with great penchant, so I did my bit, as a few familiar faces arrived.. At 11:50 something Shan arrived and me him and Sian made our way to Canvas (via-KFC).. Got to the place and were greeted by 3 ques, 2 of them were pretty rammed, the other was fluid, but was for ticket collection, so, noticing Viv a little way up the guestlist que... "we chiefed it geez!"

During the relatively long wait.. I took this..

Shan's "we cheifed it geez!" face.. and Sian's indifferent face..

We got in after 30 minutes of waiting at about 12:30, and headed straight for the cloakroom... via photo oppurtunities..

Some of the Gang L-R; Sian, Shan, Gregory, Viv.

Viv was feeling the funk, and not faking it.

Sian by Shan, momentous shot.

P1200912
Tap water for two.

We made it through the 'Kings of House' room.. noticing a large persuasion of shady guys with sunglasses on.. and landed in the Kings of Hiphop room, a rather tame affair on arrival, and realised we had turned up to see the beginning of Premier's set.. timing couldn't have been better.. (well it could have been, apparently Mr. Thing killed it - according to Primo, would he lie??)..

P1200914

Non-stop big tracks later...

P1200923
Flash gun was employed all night... Sometimes it got a little bright, a bit reminiscent of a Men In Black memory eraser...

P1200930
Marly Marl followed Primo.. pic by Shan.

Marly by Shan.

Anyway, at about 4 something, we left the premises, but not before our second cheifage of the evening, in the cloakroom que. Afterwards we had pre-determined that Tinseltown would be our rest haven until the tubes started running again, and so it was... walking with the thai influence made the journey seem quicker, almost getting hit by a few cars/buses on the way, but "we made it."

P1200971
Dirt Dogg & Ms Charles had a minor domestic over the bill.. and that one guy loitering over our table insisting he had to cash up before some of us had even got their food, he didn't get much love, AND.. we got his pen, but that's what happens when you pose problems to the gang.

P1200975
District line back to west.

Got in for 8:30, woke un-naturally at 12.. and then weirdly at 3.. and journeyed back to the Elephant like Castle.

More very very soon.
