CLAN IN THE FRONT!!

Tonight was the night of GZA performing Liquid Swords.. and "fucking live" doesn't sum up the evening adequately at all. Me, Shan and Viv decided to meet at Mornington Crescent station at 7.. via Tennesseland Chicken.. Narrowly avoiding Eko(li) Unit Chicken shop.. We get to KoKo to see a pretty extensive que of people, of which we join the back of.. thankfully the que moves pretty fluidly and we are in within 20 minutes.. cloakroom scrimpage was the order of the night, as we stuffed 4 items into Shan's duffle bag... Saving £8 in the process.. We made for the front of the stage and vowed to hold our position. The DJ played a very weird medly of all sorts of terrible mash-up tracks.. a few plastic cups were thrown, and the guy took refuge behind his tables, 'twas a wise move.

Some time later GZA appeared, and the show was in full swing.. my highlights were 'Living In The World Today', 'Cold World' & 'Shadowboxing'.. but Killah Priest doing 'B.I.B.L.E' was also pretty dope... after the 'Liquid Swords' album had been completed in it's entirety, you would be forgiven for thinking that would be the end..

But GZA persisted to get drunk and drop numerous Wu bangers... Our place at the front looked in jeopardy at certain intervals, but we held the fort, and when GZA took inspiration from Shan's 'Clan In The Front' tee, everything made sense. He did alot of interaction stuff with the crowd, passing his mic around the audience, for heads to drop bait one-liners.. he got down off the stage and embraced 'us' in mass..

The video footage was plentiful, mobile phones and cameras alike.. which brings me retrospectively to questioning KoKo's 'search' policy, they have about 4 people manning the entrance.. and somehow I slipped through unsearched.. so in answer to "Can I Bring My Gat Along?".. yes, you probably can.. if you lack melanin.
