So to prove the doubters wrong I went to Wagamamas to use my 2 4 1 voucher and it worked!
Meeting Rob, Olivia, Ian and the rest of the gang, I got to the table about 45 mins late thanks to public transport and my own lazy ass. Ordered the standard Chicken Katsu & Negima Yakitori and a Coke zero. My severe hunger meant it didn't last very long so I followed with Coconut reika (super soft Coconut ice cream with Mango sauce)
Hold tight everyone else drinking the free green tea instead of ordering drinks and us plastering our waitress with 2 4 1 vouchers.
With time to kill (no Benny Page) (hopefully Greg T will get that joke) we headed back to the Candy Store as Ian had some late night shoppers passing through, chilled for a while then headed down to Breakthru at the Med Bar.
A fairly early 10.45 arrival meant the place was sparsely populated but Reaction was bringing the vibes with the warm up set. The place slowly filled, caught a bit of Samas in the Kitchen and the most of Benny and Aries whilst floating in and out of room 2.
The usual Dubby jump from the two Co-Lab residents supported by MC PM..
Up next was the main attraction for me Taxman. We all knew what to expect and he came with more.
Some serious VIPs and some devastating jump up drum n bass. Massive big up to Taxman, it was a flashgun in the back pocket skank like a badman set! Stopped briefly to grab some pix:
Milled around for the next hour or so, caught a bit of Survival in the Med bar and generally chilled even though it was stupidly cold outside! Why I didn't layer up I do not know!?
Finally after rumours all night that D Bridge wasn't going to turn up (after being hit by a car earlier in the day) he cancelled Fabric and made his way to Birmingham. Serious dedication from the big man!
Boy was it worth it, a complete contrast to Taxman, a stand an appreciate set. The beats were serious, close your eyes, nod your head and feel the vibe, D Bridge smashed it! Hosted by SP MC to keep things rolling, definitely a set for the drum n bass connoisseur.
