Gil Scott Heron - Somerset House
A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of going to see a living legend, a man who's life story has seen more troubles than most people to say the least. Gil Scott Heron live and direct at Somerset House. First time i've seen anyone perform at Somerset House and you can't really fail as an artist performing on this stage...
The concert was perfect, supported by Mayor Hawthorne and then out came Gil Scott Heron to a pretty mature crowd, we were probably the youngest crew there but it was all good.
His personality is huge and he had the crowd rolling around in stitches in between tracks.
He opted to play more of his old material which wasn't a massive shock but he did play one of my favourite songs from 'I'm New Here'...

The Sit Down Affair

By integrating two detached pursuits, the pleasures of feasting and encounters with art, we intend to amplify the jo...y and stimulation of both. Come, all who hunger for sustenance of real substance, for your mind and your stomach and every parched bit of your soul!
The event will take place on the capacious terrace on the 2nd floor, east wing of Oslo House, situated in the heart of Hackney Wick, overlooking the throng of the festival-goers. States of Flux
Yesterday I hit up the Tate Modern and the States of Flux curated space is amazing.
Some of my favourite photographers had been grouped together and were showing work on large scale with contact sheets of previously unseen work.
I massively recommend reaching if you get chance...

Kingdom - 'Fogs'
I dont really mess with new electronic music on here but I had to talk about this track.
Some of you will no doubt have heard it already as it was released on Monday. The track i'm talking about is 'Fogs' from the new EP 'That Mystic' from Kingdom. When I heard it a couple of weeks ago on the Mary Anne Hobbs show it stopped me in my tracks. Girl Unit included it in his mix for the show with a nice mix into the Woo instrumental.
The track was released on Alex BokBok's (a guy I featured on BNTL's 'One to Watch' list last year) label and the artwork was also done by the young all rounder...

To celebrate the release of Kingdom's new EP, Night Slugs are giving away NO LAY / SILKIE - Unorthodox Daughter (KINGDOM Refix). Get yours HERE.
