Long time readers of BNTL will have read my feature a couple years ago about the epic documentary '80 Blocks from Tiffany's', pretty much the most real documentary on the planet. The doc follows two gangs (Savage Skulls & Savage Nomads) from the streets of New York back when the culture we constantly rinse today was born. The quality of the doc is poor but this adds to the weight of its content. You get a feeling that these guys aren't play acting, that what they talk about is really how they live. When the closing credits come in you're left wanting more, google it as much as you want you won't get much more.
Good friend Leckie from Sneaker Freaker recently hit me up with the news that '80 Blocks' will finally get remastered for DVD release. As well as the full documentary we are also treated to a 40 page hardback book, a full length feature Esquire ran on the skulls back in 1977 and loads more.
I'm itching to get my hands on a copy. If you understand the importance of this doc then you'll be searching high and low to get yours. This is where ALL this started...
