First the Fat Boys break-up...

Now Deal Real shuts down!!

I'm unforgiveably late with this information, better never than late, and all that.. but still, it deserves a spot on here.. I was never a regular customer at Deal Real, but picked up a few crucial bits and bobs, and was as excited as the next hiphop enthusiast by the selection of rare vinyl they temporarily installed in Nike Town, though the price range kind of ruled me out.. But, still, good to fondle. Everytime I purchased something from there I was recommended something different at the same time, I know that's the way of the record store hustle, but the effort was appreciated. And along with Slammin' Kicks it's another spot to slide off of the Carnaby cool spectrum... For those not Myspace inclined the following message was circulated, telling of the official closure, and a ludicrous sale (to end all sales)..

It is with great sadness that Deal Real must say farewell to the Carnaby St store that has been our home for the last 5 years.
Dubbed "The Store that made Carnaby St Hip again" we have been lucky enough to create and witness some historic moments in hip hop.

CLOSING SALE:

To celebrate the occasion, Deal Real is hosting the mother of all sales, with massive reductions;

• Rare grooves from £1.00
• Tees from £5.00
• Deal Real slip matts £2.00
• Deal Real recordbags £20.00
• Maharishi Toys £3.00
• Nike sneaker keyrings £3.00

FAREWELL INSTORE;

We would also like to invite you to our last ever instore at the Marlborough court, in association with partners in retail SLAMMIN' KICKS.

The event takes place this Saturday 13th October from 6pm. Expect a host of special guests, giveaways and lots more!!

From all at Deal Real, I would like to thank you for the love, support and good custom that kept us here despite the odds!!

Deal Real.

If that sounds appealing, and it should, be there this saturday... Bring cash!

On a related tip, what ever happened to Out of TIme records in Colchester? In a previous, more studious, life(style) I was a regular shopper at the aforementioned, and without warning it just vanished! It's a frightening trend of the independent record shop, so I emplore you - believe in vinyl, and buy it from the independents!!!!

Marginal rant over, more updates soon.
