What? Dubstep & Soulution Breakthru
What? Dubstep
A most enjoyable evening, after a pre-rave nap I jumped on a bus to town and headed to Concrete, the first installment of What dubstep @ Concrete with Hatcha headlining and the rest of the line up mixed up of midlanders.
The venue wasn't too busy, which is a shame cause a lot of hard work had gone into the promotion but there was still a vibe inside. Caught the last few tunes from Felis a resident from the Kontact night in Leicster (big up for the stickers) and on jumped Miller G for a few tunes. Coming with the energy as usual the heads inside got a bit rowdy..
Check out the bass face:
At 12.30 it was Hatchas turn to bring out the screw face riddims, after his rather down tempo and minimal set last time he was in Brum I was expecting much of the same. Boy was I wrong. Hatcha drew straight for the dubs, playing everything on 10" plates but it didn't matter the bass was still devastating. The energy in front of the decks was quite apparent. I even had to put the camera away half way through and bust out some moves.
For all the of the What? pix:
Big up all the What? crew: Nispy, Miller G, Glacius and Boogie Dave, Taharka, Emile, Kayleigh bob, Cow and Innersense.
Left Concrete and headed for Med Bar, thanks to a lift from Cow I arrived at around 1.45. The place was busy but not overly full, with the Pendulum gig next door finishing a 2 things were soon to get ram jam.
Soulution Breakthru
Stepped in to the Med Bar for Marcus Intalex, appreciating the deep soul filling beats the rest of the crowd seemed to be appreciating too.
Then headed over to the Kitchen to catch the end of the Force and Alpha, jump up crazyness and ridiculous skanking throughout as the Kitchen filled with the Pendulum crowd still up for partying, after Alpha was DJ Pleasure again coming with some ridiculous tunes had me skanking all over the place, the Kitchen was on fire!
A.IN.T gettin' repped:
Pleasure gets the women..
Feeling for some deeper beats I headed back to the Med bar and gave Dan Bs set a solid head nod, some really heavy tunes came out the bag perfect tunes to just close your eyes and enjoy!
Callibre arrived at 5, a little late I was already tired so gave him a little 10-15 minute listen then headed home to bed!
