If there was an award for sub-genres of music, then surely, that award would go to House? So, it was no surprise that I got into a conversation with House DJ Tallman Stretch, with the end result being him describing the music he plays as Dub House. Dub House? Now, I haven't come across that before. Still, there is a possibility that Dub House is a well established genre in a land far away. I suppose the best description is not through words but via the music its self. Here's a recent Tallman Stretch set... Dub House?
Catch Tallman Stretch spinning Dub House, every other Thursday 4pm-6pm on Deja Vu.

BNTL x BBC Radio 1 - Report
You may have caught us on national radio. Last week Tuesday BNTL were guests on the BBC Radio 1 Review show.
After a quick rendezvous in the local Sam Smith's and a trip to the local shop to stock up on the beverages it was down to business at Yalding House - four cameras and seven man deep.
After the hype of Run the Track, we ended up delivering a brand new Snoop Dogg world exclusive courtesy of Max Wheeler. Total Smash - Hot Chip stood no chance.
Check out the video and photos, to see how it went down.
You can catch the record we put forward opening the Review Show tonight.
BBC Radio 1, 9pm-10pm.
Shouts to everyone that put in the shift - big team effort. Big up Will & Nan at Somethin' Else. Your chest!
Lastly, big thanks to Edith for making us feel at home (two weeks in a row) - pretty tall ask when your such a big family! #waveyourtunes
You can still listen back to the show.

Wave Your Tunes

Last night we took a team into central London to guest on BBC Radio 1's Review show. Total smash. The wavy antics can wait for the photographs. In the meantime, listen back to the show on iplayer.
Safe to everyone that got involved online. Airwaves were popping.

The OD on Strongroom Alive
This Saturday I co-hosted a radio show on Strongroom Alive with The ODG. Playing plenty of decent records, not as many as I would have liked as the two hours flew by. The show included an interview I conducted with Over It & Co from our opening last week and also a live SXSW catch up with Double Denim Records. We closed the show with a mini mix from Slingshot London.
Getting to drop the ridiculous 'Skanker' by Kalbata which is forthcoming on Greenmoney Records was pretty awesome, that one is going to destroy raves this year. I also played the new Nas record, Swindle's 'Pineapple' and Smutlee's Rack City refix. Plenty more good records, we'll be back on next month.

Pete Rock “Throwback At Noon” Mix
It's usually this time of the year everybody in the "scene" along with their mum, begs j dilla and shouts "he saved my life".
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Whatever!
Just like many others, I personally save that phrase for Dj Premier or Pete Rock.
I can't deny Dilla's importance in hiphop but yeah... this time of year just gets a tad bit tooooo corny.
Anyway, this past Friday Pete Rock had the pleasure of rocking Hot 97's Throwback at Noon show, in celebration of black history month.
One hour in the mix, with the chocolate boy wonder (no homo) it don't get no better.
Download or stream the live mix (here)
