Last time 40oz Van dropped a bunch of baseball caps, he sold the whole lot and made more than $10,000 in one evening. Looks like it's going to happen again.
The Navy blue 40oz Balmain inspired ‘NY’ snapback will drop
Tomorrow Monday 6/25 from 12pm - 12am NYC EDT over here
Brand new Joey Bada$$. The latest talent to come out of NYC, we've blogged him before and we're looking forward to his forthcoming EP '1999' which drops on the 12th of June. Keep your eye on him.
Not much is given away in this short trailer or on the website. But from some of the early reviews from the Sundace film festival, it would seem Spike is bringing us back to some of his classic late 80s/ early 90s work.
I for one will surely be watching this in a picture house when it drops in August.
Synopsis.
Red Hook Summer is the latest in Spike Lee’s Chronicles of Brooklyn (which also include
SHE’S GOTTA HAVE IT, DO THE RIGHT THING, CROOKLYN, CLOCKERS, and HE
GOT GAME), RED HOOK SUMMER tells the story of Flik Royale, a sullen
young boy from middle-class Atlanta who has come to spend the summer
with his deeply religious grandfather, Bishop Enoch Rouse, in the
housing projects of Red Hook. Having never met before, things quickly
get off on the wrong foot as Bishop Enoch relentlessly attempts to
convert Flik into a follower of Jesus Christ. Between his
grandfather’s constant preaching and the culture shock of inner-city
life, Flik’s summer appears to be a total disaster--until he meets
Chazz Morningstar, a pretty girl his age, who shows Flik the brighter
side of Brooklyn. Through her love and the love of his grandfather,
Flik begins to realize that the world is a lot bigger, and perhaps a
lot better, than he’d ever imagined.
Ferg be on some 1999 Nas "you can hate me now" sh*t, with the visuals for his latest track Hundred Million Roses. Not going to lie this ones a bit toooo out there for me.
Holdtight the album art work. I see the two are fully trying to break into that top 100 worst Hip Hop cover art work list. Tunes alright still, can't front though expect a little more.
I've been fully engrossed with all this Flatbush Zoombie, SXSW documentation material put together by the boys over at The Madbury Club. The fellas be vibezing to the fullest, putting in the grind and having fun. Much success to four of them, I sincerely expecting big things to pop off.
It's usually this time of the year everybody in the "scene" along with their mum, begs j dilla and shouts "he saved my life". Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Whatever! Just like many others, I personally save that phrase for Dj Premier or Pete Rock. I can't deny Dilla's importance in hiphop but yeah... this time of year just gets a tad bit tooooo corny.
Anyway, this past Friday Pete Rock had the pleasure of rocking Hot 97's Throwback at Noon show, in celebration of black history month. One hour in the mix, with the chocolate boy wonder (no homo) it don't get no better.
Always thought ASAP Ferg was the weak link in the ASAP crew, don't ask me why... I think it was the flow and the singing that put me off at first. But after seeing this interview I now better understand where he's coming from. I got mad love for this dude, his spitting what comes to him naturally which doesn't happen any more.
I guess you gotta show the world love....some times.
Super rare recording of one of Quest's last shows together on UK soil. The improvisation, live beat-making and freestyles are just amazing, really representing the golden era of this genre.
No Mas are ridiculously on point. Not simply content with putting out some of the best sporting inspired graphic Tee's, they did that great Dock Ellis video and are also behind one of the best sports Zines I've ever come across. While in NYC on the hunt for No Mas T's I managed to grab a copy of Victory. Really pleased to get hold of this, I actually sat and watched the Water Jousting in Sete, while down there for Worldwide Festival this summer.
A couple of years back I rented a spot down in Flatbush, it weren't all that but that's kinda irrelevant at this moment in time. Instead check out this new rap group "Flatbush Zombies". These two are definitely not your stereotypical average dudes from Flatbush, but sadly off the cuff their content is your stereotypical "new school" rap sh*t. -weed
Decent tune regardless. download it (here) Directed by the dude formerly known as Ginger Kid, Luke Monaghan.

Take a peek at the first video look book for the new clothing line Ramdane which dropped at the top of last month in New York, the line belongs to multi talented extraordinaire a few of you maybe familiar with already, Ramdane.
This particular look book titled Deep Forest, is a horror movie which features a few familiar folks from NYC's creative scene. The acting is absolutely awful but regardless, I can still appreciate the body of work. Click play.
For those who aren't familiar with the legend that be Ramdane allow yourself to be inspired and read this quick round up over (here)
Easily one of the best free body of rap work floating around on the internet at the moment. Everything from the top to bottom is fire. Vintage G Unit feel about this project from the beats to lyrics Lloyd Banks doesn't disappoint.
One of my favorite tracks, Make It Stack (Remix) (Featuring A$AP Rocky)
Side note Is it just me or are all these VERY GOOD mixtapes slyly just making us hiphop fans take shit for granted? A lot of great projects/ tracks are just becoming forgotten throw away music. Which nobody seems to care about months or weeks down the line, which in the long term can't be good right? Example who still listens or even cares about Covert Coup? Nah thought so.
