Skate Shoot Coventry

A few weeks ago a production company called Animal Finder came into the store and asked us to round up the cream of the crop of Coventry's skateboarders.

Yesterday we ventured to the park to start shooting.

Obvioulsy my tricks were so fast that they couldnt capture me on flim so instead of dazzling people i drew for the back-up cam and started snapping.

Here are some of my favourite pictures....

Summer Day 4, Kesh, Ebay, 100,000!!

Yep yep, the hottest day of 'Summer' thus far.. was a sweltering Clapham based experience. I was in the area helping Kesh prepare her clothes for her Ebay auctions, which she's doing on a whole load of her stuff, before she jumps ship for New York..

After we were done we enjoyed Ham & Cheese sandwiches on the common which managed to attract untold amounts of weirdos. It's all love though, the sunshine does funny things to people.

After a brief attempt to outwit the Weakest (and/or Strongest) link.. we went to Kiss, for Kesh to feature on Gullyver's (MK & Acyde) podcast.. Some serious tracks are on there, as with the Kesh x Ebay business I have no links to give you, but they'll emerge. Anyway.. pictorals.

Summer 2008; Day 3.

So, today was the 3rd day of Summer.. I'm counting with such scrutiny because you know how our Summers can get cancelled at the last minute, so every sunny day I'm looking to document something, just so I have a reminder of the Summer of 2008, as short/long as it may be..

So today me and Gynelle journeyed to Kew Gardens with a humble picnic.. It costs £12 to get in that place you know and it's just a glorified greenhouse basically, or a crossover greenhouse with a National Trust property (you know them way.)

Anyway, got some good pictures in sweltering heat, and there's like a jungle area, which is distinctly Amazonian, in climate if nothing else... I'm not a flower photographer so you'll have to check Petrona Bowbells to see how it's meant to be done.. Anyway, my offerings -

Mentalist & Cordy House.

Met Mentalist and Loudmouth at Walthamstow Central to get pictures for Voice magazine, and a feature they are doing on Mentalist.

The alternative title for this post is 'Summer; Day Two!', weather was so nice all day I was in a t-shirt, never saw a single cloud.

Then Elijah came through and we headed to Leyton, with the promise of Pro 2008, GTA4 and beers. Lost the first 0-1, then hit back with back to back wins (3-2 & 3-1) in order to restore Elijah's diminished pride a little we played a fourth, which I slacked on and lost 1-4. Shortly after Jack emerged, and we all headed to Liverpool Street.

Got to see Jammer, Ghetto (who did Who's Got - in an attempt by Logan to rouse the unresponsive crowd), Skepta, JME, Newham Generals & Tinchy perform. The party was in support of Logan Sama's OneAway Style Mix CD ("Featuring 25 of The Best Grime Artists").. Crowd wasn't saying much, as acknowledged by DJ's and MC's alike.. and people started to filter out shortly after the 10:30 mark.. Here are some of the pics.

Drop Beats not Bombs Sunday

After confirmation of guest list I left my house and arrived at Adderly Street at around 11 o'clock, followed the instructions for the second night in a row to gain my wrist band and was successful this time, finding my name on the guest list twice.

Heading in to the Venue, consisting of the "Stage Bus" outdoor stage, the Rainbow Warehouse and the out door beach..

Checked out the Warehouse first, TNT & Vytol were playing to a reasonable crowd and it seemed like the rig in the warehouse was finally being used to its full potential. Popped into the Dubstep room to thank Emile for the granted guest list and observe the "electronica" being played by the DJ in there at the time, definitely not for me! Checked out the beach which was basically the chill out area and headed back in for the drum n bass.

After half an hour or so I strolled outside to check the Stage bus and found Boogie Dave playing a dubstep set with a live PA from "Daddy Freddy" I'd never heard the MC before but his powerful and political vocals went down well with the dubstep and the drop beats crowd. Boogie Dave came with the bangers played the best set I've ever heard from him! A brief chat with him after and he told me it was a set he'd remember for ever thoroughly enjoyed!

I then headed for the Dubstep room to catch the rest of Emile, the serious tunes and innovative mixing as expected from the Eardrum resident.

Then back into the main arena for PCM and then Twisted Individual (hosted by MC Biggie), thoroughly enjoyed this set and the night as a whole. Up next at 3am was Phase 2 and DJ Escape playing an old skool jungle set, I grabbed a few pictures and headed home(due to an early start in the morning).

Could the Sunday night have pulled the weekend up to meet its expectations? No, but it was still a good night, which is something you can always say after a Drop Beats not Bombs event!

Big ups Emile, Boogie Dave, Taharka and all Drop Beats Staff.
