Random Concept: Andy C Nightlife 4 album launch

Guest list as standard here. Officially reviewing the night for the Night Times paper but as I normally post about my weekends activities, BNTL will get the review as well......

Arrives at Air with Jon at around 10.45 and walked straight through the queue, I was advised by security to keep "an expensive camera like that" to myself, but how else am I take pictures? In the end I didn't take too many as I was too busy skanking.

Entered the club to Nicky Blackmarket and Eksman, the sound from the EV-LAV system was awful and Nicky's set was fairly average, we chilled on the left hand side of the dance floor and purchased a beverage. Had a stroll round the club to see how many people were in there and what the other rooms were saying. The main arena wasn't too busy at this point, room 2 was sparsely populated and room 3 was busy, being hosted by Midlands Underground and boosted by the Section 18 sound system it was bubbling with old skool drum n bass.

Crazy Crowd shot:

Ventured back to room one and Shy FX was on the decks proceeded to smash up the dance floor. The sound had vastly improved and the bass on the system was sensual. Dropping some dubstep including Rusko - Jahova and his remix of Benga & Coki - Night the crowd reacted well but the drum n bass came back quickly with a fairly dubby selection and finally finished the set with Hazard - Machete to which I jumped around to like a complete idiot.

Next up was the main man himself Andy C. Garry K filled in for a bit as Andy C was late (as usual) He began his 2 hour set with the incredible double drops and amazing tune selection that you expect from the worlds finest drum n bass dj. I stood by the DJ booth witnessing this talent. His ability to queue up and perfecting bring tunes in and out is amazing! A fairly techy set from Andy and some familiar mixes had me and Jon skanking like fools again, Machete was dropped near the end but as I had predicted earlier in the night finishing with Subfocus - Timewarp damnnnnnnnnnnnn absolutely massive tune!

Had a little breather outside as Jon wanted some tobacco and came back in for DJ Hype. Starting with a double drop of Hazard - Killers don't die (a sample Bassman soon caught on to) and Lynx - Disco Dodo we were off skanking again. Perfect selection from Hype playing lots of new Hazard tunes and plenty of top draw jump up!

Red One was up next someone who I wasn't too familiar with? Not too impressed with his selection we ventured into room 2 for Garry K. Drawing for some deep vocal tunes and hosted by Nu Breed new man MC Rhymes the set flowed well and had a good reaction from the crowd.

Garry K

Last but not least Mampi Swift supported by IC3 played 5.15 to 6. I think every mix of this set was double dropped, Mampi proving you can still play a quality set without having to play every white label you have. Dropping a personal favourite of mine Gridlock - Skanka and some classics, IC3s crowd hyping skills brought the tired 6am crew to their feet.

We left air, brasing the very harsh wind and headed for McDonalds. Double Egg Mcmuffin meal and then home to bed.

I must say the vibes in air were very upbeat considering its known for its moody atmosphere. Big things from Random Concept!
