Prince @ Hop Farm Festival

Last year I had the chance to see Stevie Wonder - I slept through it. Could have seen Gil Scott-Heron - was on a long ting. So, when I returned home Saturday night to find Boilerman Dean preparing to go and see Prince, I wasted no time in sorting out a wristband (hustle) to see the legend.

We duly jumped in the BoilerVan Sunday morning, made the 28 mile trip and witnessed one of the best performances ever!

"Do you know how many hits we got?" He said half way through his near 3 hour set. He wasn't lying! Little Red Corvette, Purple Rain and Kiss were obvious highlights as were the sporadic covers such as The Beatles' Come together.

3 encores later I reflected on the show. The built up anticipation. The barn storming opening. The 2 minute solos. In the midst of 30,000 people I watched as Prince conjured up a visually magical show accompanied by what has to be one of the most talented and definitely best looking, backing bands ever!

Respect to the crew who was there, and the girl who jumping up and down to see over the heads of the crowd shrieked with every glimpse of the legend.
