FHM/Neil Bedford/The Firm

Had these scans sent to me last week, they are from this months FHM. The concept for the shoot is obviously 80's casual and the photographer is Neil Bedford. I think the styling is on point, from the haircuts to the clothes and even the old school JD carrier bag...









I've not seen the FHM where this shoot has been published but im guessing the models are all from Alan CLarke's remake of his 1988 classic film 'The Firm'. More info is welcomed.

When I was growing up it was all about who was the hardest, me and all my friends all thought we were fighters, our mouths were fast and our scraps were plentiful. But the only people we were truly all scared of was the gypsies. They'd come set up shop and bully us off our football pitches.

I remember one story which went around that some of the hardest boys from our area got together and marched down to where they were settling and had the intention of showing them who's boss. The plan didnt quite work out....our boys got ran out the area by the gypsies with snooker balls in socks and air rifles. Mooooooove!

I've been chilling with Trav (modern day gypo) this weekend and kinda doing some research on gypsies. Check out some of these guys...

Firstly we have a nice documentary by the legendary directer Shane Meadows about the king of gypsies. This is a serious guy, who at his age still looks like he could destroy an army single handedly...



This video just gives you an insight into the passion gypsies have about protecting their name...



And we all remember this great scene from Guy Ritchie's film 'Snatch'....



If you see gypsies my advice would be to let them be.

Timberland

A few months ago I was caught up in a conversation regarding Timberland boots, the conversation was with the infamous shoe designer in training Chris Mannnn.

My stance on Timberland was kinda inpartial, him on the other hand was rocking all black ones on what seemed to be the hottest day of the year thus far. Anyway he was telling me how it has always been about Timbs and my reply was that i'd never really considered buying them, I didnt know why i'd never considered them but since that day i've gone full circle and recently purchased a pair.

Maybe its because of the imapact Workwear has had on our buying behaviour. If you look at Redwing, Doc Martins and even Kickers they have all recently seen a huge resurgence, so is the time of the Timberland boot? In the US Timberland boots have been staple for many many years now but here in the UK they have never been super popular.

More than a club night.

One of the most hype nights in the country right now. Bigger Than Barry are killin' it. BNTL have been lucky to follow Barry on their journey to sold out events. Firstly seen when my original club night Vinyl Is... collaborated with Barry on many nights, then through the club night pics from our man Witts and now through the eyes of EXM in their video footage.

90's Colours Magazine

Following Ollies post earlier in the week I have dug out some 90's Colours magazines. The magazine is a multilingual quarterly magazine developed in Italy by Fabrica, Benetton's research center. There are three editions published: French/English, Italian/English, and Spanish/English. Each issue has a theme and covers the topic from an international perspective. The magazine is known for its photoessays and features a sardonic point of view (similar to Benetton advertising).
