I remember when the so called 'streetwear' and 'trainer' parties were only attended by nerds, geeks and CT users.

This looks pathetic, a desperate crowd of youth with nothing other than 'fashion' to associate themselves with.

YAWN

im going to hate on the people in these photos because i secretly wish i was invited. somebody help me. i wish i was a hipster. but im not. im fat. and shop in JD sports. all i can do is view hipsters though my computer screen. sometimes i see them in shoreditch/dalston. and cry inside. i wish i could be them. to even get close enough to smell them. urrgghh. i'm going to catch a hipster and rape him/her in the bum. then maybe their poo will help me turn into one. im going to wank to hipster porn now. a bit of sasha grey will do.

**sigh**

Tommy lad.......

around 98 - 2004 this kind of thing was real.

Need i really say more.....oh yeah, i should as you were no where near this then and probably still thought FCUK and Diesel were on point.

You see, when these 'trainer' parties happened during those times, you were either looked at as weird or gay for attending.

Reebok didnt want to know 8 years ago.

Come to think of it, nike didnt either and only recently started 'using' you as tools

^ Good point.

Brands have been doing this for a few years now. People should really be clocking onto this kind of advertising.

You have a new product out, so you sell by using 'soft-selling' techniques. You create brand awareness and reputation by introducing certain things into a campaign like launch parties, which coincide with online and offline ads etc.

You encourage the coolest and freshest kids to turn up, take snaps, advertise these scenes on specific influential blogs/websites etc so people from the outside see this, and want it.

It's like when you see some cringy Vodafone ad where they have cast some ultra hip quiffed 20 something to parade around with a phone.

Reebok are doing this, just slightly more believable.

that was way off. no answers just a rant about being real. i completely agree with you on that, the party was put on by size, (part of the JD corp) so it was far from "REAL"! however at the end of the day the point is that it was a fun, free night.

Anonymous said...

no, kid, 'at the end of the day' that is not the point.

Anonymous said...

Of course it was a fun free night. That's the main strategy, if it was shit, then it reflects on the brand etc. It has to be good.

But at the end of the day there is a purpose to all this - To sell a product, and Tommy, your just a minor cog in the works young man.

Your helping fuel profits for brands, but not in a way you think you are.
