SHOW BLOGGER TOOLBAR

Hhhmmmmm.

Came across a extract from a article out of GQ's man of the year edition.

gq_drakewalecudi

''Have you been listening to hip-hop this year? If not, we’ve got good news: The gangster persona is finally dead, and these are the kids who killed it. One song at a time, they built a new era in which duct-taped kilos, exotic firearms, and freaky girls are out and real life is the focus.

That can still mean trumped-up egos and battle raps, but it also means family, drama, vicious hangovers, and regular chicks who will make good love to you, then stomp out your heart. (Weed? Weed is always in.) Wale is as famous for his live shows as for the slick-witted lyricism of his debut, Attention Deficit.

Kid Cudi is the cutup who scored with the stoner anthem “Day N Nite” and his album Man on the Moon. And then there’s Drake, who found himself turning down multimillion-dollar offers after his single “Best I Ever Had” exploded. (It helps that the girls like Drake. A lot.) Drake’s debut, Thank Me Later is easily the most anticipated album of 2010 So what do these underdogs thing about being cast as gangster slayers?

What happened to hip-hop
the genre of music many of "hardcore heads" say we hold so close to our ears and hearts ?
Is GQ right, is this the future ?

Or is GQ so off the point, they just sound stupid
?
Because I and you both know that Cudi's album was definitely not hip-hop, it was serious don't get me wrong. But it weren't hip-hop.

Loving bntl like a fat kid loves cake.

GQ are like the Daily Mail of Magazines. They are so off point its ignorant.

Whoever wrote this hasn't been listening to Hip Hop this year. All they have done is picked up NME and heard a few 'urban' tracks on Radio 1.

And Dylan Jones can jog too. 100% WASTE.

All you goons are what is wrong with hip-hop. Wale, Drake & Cudi are the future.

What you only think Hip-hop is Wu Tang & Rakim? Who you kidding? Most of you jokers were born in the 90s.

This Ollie Danger jabroni can jog. Where you there when 'Pac recorded Hit 'Em Up or something? 273% WASTE.

And that is why I believe there is a distinct difference between hip-hop and rap.

They aren't bad at all, but I agree misterlego they aren't hip-hop (that's not a discredit to them)
