MF Social Club #2, Sun 18th July: "George Clinton Parliament Funkadelic, The Mothership Connection Live"

"George Clinton Parliament Funkadelic "Mothership Connection" Live in Houston 1976 is one of the greatest concerts of all time, from one of the greatest albums of all time, and I've been dying to see it on a big screen and soundsystem - the time has arrived. The clip above is from the opening sequence, it all kicks off at the 1.50 mark.

This was the show with the giant blinking eye, the flying Mothership which came down and released George Clinton in a white furry pimp suit complete with furry cane, the silver space car that 'drove' on stage, Bootsy Collins and Sly & The Family Stone as special guests, and the most incredible musicianship imaginable.

Garry "Diaperman" Shider passed away last month of cancer, so this night will be something of a tribute to his amazing talent - we're sure the Mothership came down and took him away.

Tickets are £4 in advance, which guarantees you entry, free popcorn and a seat. Tickets will cost more on the night & will not guarantee you any of those things. Come down early as Eric Lau will be DJing, and providing us with some serious funk..."
