Styling by Chris Benns

Last week I got a call from my friend Chris Benns about the launch of his new website. For those of you who dont know of Chris he's a stylist who has worked with the likes of The Scissor Sisters, Mc Q, John Legend, Tommy Hilfiger, Dunhill, Robin Bharaj, MixMag and BLVD. In 2007 designer Kim Jones spotted Chris' work and invited him to start as his new assistant a move which saw Chris work on numerous fashion shoots around the world.

The website features some images of work Chris has been involved in and also his biography which is an interesting read.

I don't understand why they put the grime kids in them outfits and then let them wear those creps? It doesn't make sense and just looks daft.. Like it doesn't suit the rest of the outfit or the location.

I like the rest though.

Juxtaposition homie...

Look it up.

Call it what you will 'homie', it doesn't look good.

And surely them being grime MC's and being in that environment and dressed like that is juxtaposition enough.. so why randomly have them wearing dutty trainers? Looks nuts.. Just an observation.

This shoot was for Mixmag of which i wrote, long are the days of writing about grime and them wearing hoodies, thats DEADOUT. You dont get what we were trying to achieve obviously.

Thank you JP. I was starting to think me and the photographer were the only poeple who understood why they are still wearing their trainers.

No Ollie, JP didn't reinforce your point at all?!

He just overlooked what I said, as I've seen him do on other comments when he's clearly been in the wrong..

Cool to get them out the hoodies, I'm hardly taking exception to that am I... I see what you're trying to achieve yes. Just picking up on the fact that the trainers don't work.

And Ollie, why mention the photographer when it's a post about styling, the pictures are good though I rate them.
